Review: Unsub by Meg Gardiner

UNSUB by Meg Gardiner

Meg Gardiner has done it again. Unsub follows Caitlin Hendrix as she attempts to pick up where her father left-off (and failed), 20 years earlier in apprehending a serial killer that has the entire Bay Area on edge with fear.

We're introduced to Caitlin as a child when she stumbles upon pictures of the Prophet's murders. Believe me, the heinous, gruesome scenes are some scary shit. Fast forward 20 years later, Caitlin is all grown up, her father has effectively gone crazy due to his inability to catch the Prophet, and a whole crop of new murders have occurred.

Are the new murders the work of a copycat or could the Prophet be back?

Well... The Prophet this time around is not holding back. He taunts the police at every turn and specifically has his sights set on Caitlin. He hopes that she too will go the way of crazy.

Except, Caitlin is not having it. She is determined to catch him. But can she do it without completely being his next victim?

Suffice it to say, Meg Gardiner writes criminal procedural like none other. Unsub sets the stage for the Unsub titles to follow in this new series. Fans of Gardiner's will not be disappointed and those new to her work will search for more. She will not disappoint. ****

***One thing to note, my review copy wasn't the best but eventually that gripe was overshadowed by how awesome Gardiner's writing is***
